Q. How much does a fireworks
display cost?
A. There are many factors
that determine the final cost of a fireworks display. The location
where the display will be held, the length of show, the type of
devices used, the system in which the show is fired and the permit
fees all account for the various costs in a fireworks display.
Displays can range from $3,000 and up depending on your requirements.
To get a quick idea of how much a show may cost, please contact
us by phone or e-mail and have the following information ready.
• Date of fireworks display
• Location of display
• Type of occasion or event
Q. Why do some companies charge
as little as $500 for a display while others charge $3,500 for
a similar display?
A. You get what you pay for.
In this industry, like many others, there are smaller companies
who try to gain your business by cutting costs and offering extremely
low prices. Often times they are not telling you the truth about
what is included in their displays or they have hidden costs in
their contract.
For example: All jurisdictions require
a permit for a professional fireworks display. This permit is
usually obtained from the county or city fire marshal. This permit
may cost up to and beyond $500. If the display quote was originally
$500, then you need to take a closer look because there is no
way anyone would provide a "free" fireworks display.
The best advice we can offer you is to
do your homework, ask as many questions as you need to and call
around to other companies in the industry. Ask them for referrals
or which company they would choose. Most of all use common sense.
If you feel like someone is not telling the truth or they are
avoiding something, then choose a different company. When it comes
to having fireworks, a potentially dangerous form of entertainment
if mistreated, you do not want to cut corners.
Q. How much room do I need
for a fireworks display?
A. This once again depends
on exactly what you want for your display. For close proximity
effects, the distances begin at 50 feet and go up from there.
For the full scale aerial shell displays, the distances begin
at 250 feet and go up from there.
To be safe, figure in 100 feet for every
inch of shell size. 3” shells =300 feet, 4” shells
=400 feet... etc.
This distance is required for safety of
all employees, surrounding property and the audience. The safe
area must be clear of people, vehicles and buildings. The area
does not have to be clear of trees and bushes but there obviously
has to be enough room to set up and safely fire the devices. A
free walk through with one of our site inspectors will quickly
let you know exactly how much distance you have and exactly what
devices can be used.
Exact distances required, what shell sizes
that can be used and any other information concerning the display
will be provided to you during the free site inspection by a safety
engineer.
Q. What are close proximity
fireworks?
A. These devices are smaller,
but equally exciting, versions of fireworks you are used to seeing.
They are manufactured to strict specifications that allow them
to be used in close proximity to an audience and buildings. They
can be fired from the roof of a building unlike normal firework
shells. These devices burn cold and are what you normally see
at sporting events, indoor celebrations and on stage at concerts.
Q. Do you provide insurance
for the display?
A. Yes, we carry a $5 million
insurance policy for every display
